京都写真美術館 ギャラリー・ジャパネスク 2階展示室にて、2023年11月14日(火)から11月26日(日)まで、加藤文彦 写真展『はかない夢』を開催します。カラーとモノクロ作品を約35点展示します。

夢の世界は時間からの解放
過去が様々に交じりあい、今に重なる
不可逆的であるはずの時間の秩序は解体される
それは写真と同じ
写真はさまざまな過去と今を混ぜ合わせる

写真は被写体の写しであるかぎり
被写体に依存して生まれる
依存関係は不自由か？
そうではなく依存関係が被写体を時間の世界から解き放つ
不思議なパラドクス
夢のパラドクス
はかなく、よわく、みじかい

夢、それは空の模範、写真の模範

Time is irreversible.  Relentlessly so.
But Time is benevolent in bringing life about.
Time is relentless in taking life away.

The Dream is unique in breaking down the order of Time.
In dreams past, present, and future mingle together, changing places.
People, animals, and objects –the material of dreams change places.
The Dream reshuffles our material as well as Time.

But the Dream is fleeting by definition. 
Its evanescence is the essential quality of freedom as well.
Tied by nothing.

A photograph is tied to its subjects.
Its dependence on material is not a bondage, however.
It is freedom from time and space.
It may sound paradoxical; but like the dream photography reshuffles time and material, giving new meanings to our universe.
