東新宿の駅を出て北西の方向に目をやると、異様な形状のビルが現れる。
第３スカイビル、通称「軍艦マンション」である。
陸軍船舶兵出身の異端の建築家、渡邊洋治の代表作であるこの建築物は、惜しまれつつも2024年の解体が予定されている。
「壊れ去っても、人の心に影響を与え、造った精神と意義が残るものとしたい」
渡邊のその言葉が具現化された「軍艦マンション」を、内から、外から、そして空から、あらゆる角度で12年に渡り撮影した作品展。

 
Upon exiting Higashi-Shinjuku Station and casting your eyes northwest, a building shaped like a battleship comes into view. That’s the New Sky Building, also known as “The Gunkan Mansion”.
This building, a masterpiece by the unconventional architect Yoji Watanabe, is regrettably scheduled for demolition in 2024.
“Buildings, even after they have been destroyed, should leave an impression of creative spirit and significance on the mind.” These words of Watanabe come to life in this building.
A 12-year photographic journey of “The Gunkan Mansion” from every perspective—inside, outside, and aerial views—is showcased in a photo exhibition.
