Concept
“Surface to Soul” is an ongoing project for more than five years about me as a traveler to catch every abstract language from light, shadow, color and texture for my familiar hometown — Taiwan.
With an intuitive shooting method,
It records the abstraction of the urban streetscape and preserves the light of island time.
Looking at photography from the point of view of painting,
All the space in the far and near views,
Visual imagination fully compressed into a flat canvas,
At the same time, it gives emotion and poetry in the imagination.
Whether it is the gradual scenery like the superimposition of layers of paint or the pattern of the mottled exterior wall is scattered as sandpaper scraping paints on canvas.
In the world of photography, light itself is a painting medium.
The visual point of view also comes from my peculiar daily life in which I have both myopia and hyperopia.
The picturesque picture dissolves the boundary between reality and illusion, as if it exists in every inconspicuous detail of life.
